About

The Parasol Carousel is a unique kinetic light installation made of 'real' colourful umbrellas formed together to create a beautiful geometric shape that spins with the wind. In any given group, the individual sculptures spin at different speeds and indifferent directions depending on how they catch the eddies in the wind. The audience are transfixed watching this unusual kinetic showstopper, especially at night when they light up using their own 12 volt solar-charged power supply, all provided by us. We use solar technology as much as possible as we don't want to draw on the planets resources, and there is no need to dig trenches for power cables.  One stands 4.5 metres tall,-with the moving part being 1.5 x 1.5 metres wide.

There are 18 available for hire in a variety of colour combinations, please see photos for all possible options.

We have seating available, located at the base of each parasol.  Each wooden bench seat is 600mm x 600mm and can seat up to 6 people and painted in complementary colours.

This installation is suitable for

FESTIVALS, WEDDINGS, CORPORATE EVENTS, INSIDE DECOR.

This unique installation was the result of a day of creative play using umbrellas with artists, Stephanie Reeves and Tracey Graham.

The umbrella is an iconic, instantly recognisable piece of design.  We loved the geometric shape of them and the shape they made when we grouped them together but knew we needed to work through the 'sail' aspect of them.

We teamed up with Metal worker Ally Burgess and solar lighting technician Mat Reynolds and worked out the kinetics and.....

Parasol Carousel was born.
